progbassist2112 There is not much better modern prog out there! It evokes the unmistakable experience of classic prog without becoming derivative. Wyatt and Eli Mehmeti do the best Alex Lifeson/Neil Peart impression on the market today. The smooth, jazzy basslines give the album a unique texture very unlike classic prog, and Sean's penchant for catchy melodies is certain to delight fans of modern pop music. Instant classic. Favorite track: A Puzzle.

My life has been a living lie, Mankind has lost the will to try, Everyday is getting out of hand And I'm losing my mind Spending everyday Knowing that I'm just like all the others, Leaving no time For any other man but me My picture of a perfect world Has faded away with age, What used to give me hope Has now filled me with rage Inherently selfish is the man Who does not wish to understand That those Who have a purpose, have everything to lose, We all think and act for those we love Without thinking of what they truly feel My picture of a perfect world Has faded away with age, What used to give me hope Has now filled me with rage My picture of a perfect world Has faded away with age, What used to give me hope Has now filled me with rage My picture of a perfect world Has faded away with age, What used to give me hope Has now filled me with rage

Your warming gaze breaks this murky haze; Your gentle laugh brings good memories back to mind But there's something about you that I can't deny, And every day it breaks me down inside Every day you bring me closer and you drive me farther away It's not the way you are it's just the things you choose to say... That kills me every day... I've reached the breaking point 'Cause I don't know who you are anymore I used to know your name, Now I only know of the stranger you became Every day you bring me closer and you drive me farther away It's not the way you are it's just the things you choose to say...

I. The Wasteland Meandering across the barren wasteland of his life; His eyes are filled with darkness and he longs to see the light, His heart is un-conformed by those who see with narrowed sight, He moves in endless circles to escape his cornered fight Desperately he longs to flee, escape this battered land, To leave behind the people who could never understand He stands alone against the tide, And he has nothing left hide He chooses not to be without a choice, To follow now the guidance of his voice; The world is new, he’s ready to be free He travels now to unknown places, eyes are filled with light The world is suddenly renewed against the blackest night He’s living in the world that he had always dreamed, But suddenly he finds out that nothing’s what it seems. And all at once, the world is filled with emptiness alive, The world he thought would save his soul has sent him back to die “You’ve torn down all these prison walls and yet you were misled, For all along the prison walls were deep inside your head” Desperately the Traveler runs away from stranger grounds, And suddenly he finds the raging tides have pulled him down He is traveling empty roads, Seeking out his empty home He chooses now to be without a choice, To live in fear and sacrifice his voice, And nevermore, the Traveler will be free

II. Paradise He closes his eyes one last time As he prepares to die, All feeling's gone as waits for the end, He's finally ready to transcend When the moment finally arrived, He was freed of his troubled mortal life, And he never felt so alive As he did the day he chose to die, As he did the day he closed his eyes When he opened his eyes, He could finally see for the first time Forgetting the mistakes of his past, The Traveler ran through the golden fields of the afterlife And the air was filled with the warmth Of a thousand rays of light He was is paradise, Living life at last When the moment finally arrived, He was freed of his troubled mortal life, And he never felt so alive As he did the day he chose to die, As he did the day he closed his eyes III. The Void Standing on the edge of his existence and the void, His mind is filled with memories of the life he once enjoyed, His heart has finally found its way; the path is straight ahead, The final chapter of his life is waiting to be read He travels now to time a space; the stars have turned to black, And running through his memory, he longs to journey back To distant lands, to spirit skies; to things that light could show, But tall before him is the blackest night he's ever known He travels now to time a space; the stars have turned to black, And running through his memory, he longs to journey back To distant lands, to spirit skies; to things that light could show, But tall before him is the blackest night he's ever known

A Puzzle 05:03
I feel so lost, even though there's no reason All alone, but I don't know why Each day passes with the same empty feeling Getting nowhere, even though I try The world that we live in is so practical and hurried, So we hold on to things we think are true But we are unwilling to search for other answers In the dark; down unfamiliar avenues But I've seen the light in the darkness; Now I see what was impossible before The time has come to stop wasting time Now I know that holding on is letting go... Don't hold on to anything 'Cause nothing ever lasts Live life while it's happening 'Cause mistakes die in the past But I've seen the light in the darkness; Now I see what was impossible before The time has come to stop wasting time 'Cause now I know that holding on is letting go... But I've seen the light in the darkness; Now I see what was impossible before The time has come to stop wasting time Now I know that holding on is letting go...

I stare across these barren seas; The sunlight path, alight It glimmers with insistence, As my soul gives way tonight Along the 'luminating trails, I venture for the key The answers hidden deep within Defy mortality This longing for a purpose and a meaning in this life Has occupied the corners of my mind And though my mind has wandered far, I feel that I am still Struggling with an ever-fading will And maybe all we do will have no meaning in the end, But life is not defined by life alone And if all that we do is confined within our minds... Then I'll carry on... And doubt is the enemy Against the strength in security And reason is a foolish friend When there's no reason at all And in this great affinity For fabricated reality When knowledge can provide no more Will hope become our cause? Maybe all we do will have no meaning in the end, But life is not defined by life alone And if all that we do is confined within our minds, Then I'll carry on And maybe all we do will have no meaning in the end, But life is not defined by life alone And if all that we do is confined within our minds, Then I'll carry on... And in this great, delusional dream, My soul has found its way Against the odds of the unknown; My ignorance remains And solace comes from hidden truth In all that I don't know The seeds of life are planted in me, Waiting now to grow...
